As a lad, I spent many a sunny day behind my desk trying to wrap my head around the difference between gerund and gerundive. For you who have not enjoyed the pleasures of learning an extinct language, gerund and gerundive are verb forms that ... You know what? Forget it! I'm done with this nonsense; google it yourself. And anyway, I have a point to make.
If learning old languages is an end in itself, should we then not also strife to learn obsolete programing languages as well? Why should UCSD Pascal be forgotten! Why not take an exam in Z80 assembly?
Am I being facetious? Maybe, or perhaps I'm just still annoyed that I have wasted so many years learning Latin to so little effect.
